Helping the Homeless on Whidbey Island Since 2006

ICoWI is a partnership of local congregations working together to provide basic necessities to people in need.  By combining resources and working with local agencies, we can have a greater impact in addressing hunger, affordable housing, health care, and other basic needs than any one congregation can do alone.

ICoWI seeks to unify our common faith in God and compassion for humanity to pursue one cause, a better Whidbey Island for everyone.  We believe that caring for our neighbors in time of need is a spiritual matter for all faiths.  We seek to increase our neighbor's chances for self-sufficiency by being an ongoing source of support, unconditional love, encouragement and acceptance.

ICoWI also works with other churches and social service agencies to help people develop the skills and tools necessary to be successful in the community.  We accomplish this by:
  • Networking with churches and other organizations to identify and address unmet basic needs.
  • Serving as a "clearing house" for the faith based community by sharing infomation about community events and publicizing available resources and community events.
  • Coordinating training and providing volunteer opportunities for people to share their time and talents.

Thank you to all the members of the community for supporting the annual canned food drive to benefit North Whidbey Help House. ICoWI collected approximately 3,600 lbs. of food and over $1,000 in cash donations! Special thanks to the volunteers who showed up early in the morning and collected food donations from customers visiting the local food stores.  We could not have done this without you!
